JOY RIDE 3: ROADKILL CODE
A Canadian actor, Hollingsworth’s film and television credits include (Wish Come True, 2015 Pop Fan, 2014 The Lottery, 2014 Code Black, 2015). Jordan tries to prevent or correct much of what happens but circumstances resign him and his crew to their particular fates.Īlong with Jesse Hutch, lead mechanic of the crew is played by Ben Hollingsworth (Mickey Cole). He is always in charge of his crew, but many of them make deadly choices that cost them in the end. I also like the fact that he’s not perfect.” Hutch does an incredible job of anchoring his group by playing a solid good guy. Jordan is the glue that holds them (the crew) together.
In an interview Hutch says of his character Jordan, “I guess he’s the leader. Disbelief rather than fear drives Jordan (Hutch) at least initially in the film. Hutch is much cooler, more focused, resourceful, and in control.
JOY RIDE 3: ROADKILL DRIVER
In Joy Ride 3, Hutch plays Jordan Wells, a talented and eager race car driver with his eye on the prize, winning a race at a rally in Canada.Īlthough O’Brien’s screenplay has some of the elements of Steven Spielberg’s film “Duel”,(1971), Hutch unlike Dennis Weaver( Spielberg’s principle in “Duel”), does not display the same frantic, last ditch behavior that Weaver does. In addition, Hutch has a very impressive acting Filmography that includes both film and television credits for a number of movies, television series, and shows (Harvest Moon 2015 Hallmark, Cedar Cove season 2,3 Hallmark Channel, Joyride 3 2013, Dark Corner 2013, Butterfly Effect 2004, and A Dangerous Man 2009, and is currently filming Blue Adrenaline 2016). Our leading man, Jesse Hutch (Canadian) is an Award winning Producer and Director in his own right (Ghosts of Europe, 2012 Diaper Run ,2013). With all of these horror and Sci Fi accolades to his name, one couldn’t help but be surprised by the fact that O’Brien won Best Family Feature for Alice Upside Down (2007), and the Kid’s First! Award (2008), which speaks to the fact that O’Brien’s talents span several genres. This reviewer will elucidate on these aspects later in this review. O’Brien has been credited with saying that his vision of Joy Ride 3 is to provide the viewers with more spectacular deaths the likes of which they have not seen before, and the addition of much more blood, volumes more blood! Indeed, there are elaborate set ups for the deaths of characters, horrific uses for prosthetics, explosions, and impacts with vehicles that provide a veritable smorgasbord of visual treats for the avid horror admirer. Others include Wrong turn 4: Bloody Beginnings (2011) Wrong turn 5: Bloodlines (2012): and Hijacked (2012).
JOY RIDE 3: ROADKILL SERIES
Joy Ride 3: Roadkill is only one in a like- minded series of films that bear O’Brien’s stamp. Although he is a prolific writer for the horror genre, he is most well-known for some of the films of that nature for which he has directed. Included in his Sci Fi Television credits are the writing for “The Snake Man” (2005) “Harpies” (2007), and “Sharktopus (2010). Staying within the Horror genre, O’Brien’s credits are numerous and his work on them has more than prepared him to do a skillful job with Joy Ride 3. In addition, he is also the President of Utopia Pictures and Television.
O’Brien is an American born Producer, Director, and Screenwriter, who incidentally wrote the screen play for this film. Much of the credit for the look and story of this raging, blood lust of a Road Trip, goes to the “experienced genius” of Joy Ride 3’s director Declan O’Brien. It is not for the faint of heart, or the weak of stomach. Although at the time of this cut, Joy Ride 3: Road kill was not rated, the film went on to receive a rating of R for Brief Nudity, Adult situations, Adult Language, and Extreme Violence, all of which in this case, make the rating well earned.ĭubbed “Blood, Sweat, and Gears” by the film’s writer, Joy Ride 3: Road Kill is a high octane, heart pounding, gear grinding, rubber burning, psychopathic, body parts flying, blood and guts killing spree that stretches across a desolate highway, and almost two hours of the viewers time, to bring the thrill ride of a horror aficionado’s dream.
